Patients know they have the right to high-quality, professional and modern dental treatment. They expect these services automatically. More patients need to know exactly what responsibilities they have towards their dentists. This article will identify top dental patient responsibilities.
1. Dental treatment is actually a partnership between dentist and patient. You, the patient, have the right to expect certain behaviors and performance from your dentist. The dentist also has the right to expect specific behaviors and performance from his or her patients.
TIP 1: Look for a copy of Patient Rights and Responsibilities to be posted and perhaps individually available somewhere in the dental clinic or office. Be sure to read it.
TiP 2: If anything is unclear, or if you strongly disagree with any of the provisions for patient rights, make sure to openly discuss your concerns with your dentist.
2. Keep all scheduled appointments. Your dentist has a schedule to maintain that involves services to many other patients beside you.
TIP 1: Give twenty-four hours notice if you are unable to keep an appointment. This gives the dentist time to slot someone else in your place.

TIP 1: It is a waste of time money and effort for both you and your dentist if you don’t take care of your teeth and mouth.
TIP 2: Avoid substances and behaviors that put your overall health at risk.
TIP 3: Pay your bill. Whatever insurance doesn’t cover is your responsibility. Make arrangements to pay over time if you can’t afford a lump sum payment. Your failure to pay a dental bill contributes to rising dental costs for everyone.
