Teeth whitening can be affected in many ways and the most common problem is often because of crowns, fillings and veneers. If you whitened your teeth you would be able to clearly see that you have these.
Teeth whitening have become a massive trend in the past few years and if you aren’t getting it done by a dentist then you should be careful.
Fillings- tooth whitening gel will change the color of our normal teeth but because fillings are made of different material to our teeth the tooth whitening gel would not make a difference to the filling. Although you may not be able to see this there could be a massive difference in the color of newly whitened teeth and a filling which would obviously make it more noticeable.
Crowns- these are often done to build back up a damaged tooth. Again they are made of a plastic kind of material and bleach or whitening would not affect the color of the crown. Crowns are more noticeable than most fillings so it would not be a good idea to whiten your teeth if you have a crown especially on teeth that are seen often. They will look a few shades darker than the whitened teeth and may look rather silly.

Veneers-you can have a complete set of veneers or just the one but if you decide to whiten your teeth your veneers will still be the same color as before. Again this is because the bleach won’t react on the material they are made from. This would leave the veneers the same color as before but would look a lot darker than before because the other teeth would be whiter.

Bridges- the same applies as above because of material they are made from it would not help to use whitening gel or bleach to make the teeth whiter. Again if you did whiten what teeth you had you would have different colored teeth.
Think carefully before you attempt to whiten your teeth, it is advised that you got the go ahead from your dentist first. You could make your teeth look a lot worse than before. Especially if you have fillings, crowns, veneers or bridges in a place that would be visible when you smile.
If you do want t o do something about the color of your teeth but have the above problems then you should speak to your dentist. He may be able to help achieve a whiter smile without leaving the crown, veneers, filling’s or bridges a different color to original teeth. Before you whiten your teeth it is advised you should speak to your dentist first.
