Teeth Whitening Tips And Precautions

In the past times the only solution that people had to their teeth whitening problem was to visit a dentist and use a bleached solution, however even though this helped their teeth get sparkly, in reality they used to get really sensitive.

Here are a few teeth whitening tips to keep in mind:

• Dentists have the required expertise. It is important to visit your dentist to find out why your teeth are discolored, and also to find out which treatment will work best on you. You should take an appointment before visiting the doctor in order to save your time and save you from the irritation that is usually caused while waiting.

• Tooth sensitivity and gum irritation. Tooth whitening products may sometimes cause tooth sensitivity or irritation to some people. If this problem occurs with you, you should try using lower concentration of peroxide (e.g. 6% instead of 10% or 20%) straight away. It helps to weaken the side effects but these side effects will remain if too much peroxide is used. You should visit the dentist if the irritation continues.

As peroxide can trickle into the enamel of the tooth, it can you’re your nerve can make your teeth sensitive to the air. If however the sensitivity maintains for a period of two days. Call your dentist.

For quite some time people thought that the chemicals that contained peroxide would cause cancer in the tissues of the mouth.  But now it is learned that the total amount of peroxide that a person would be exposed to in a day while bleaching their teeth is less than even 0.1% of the daily production of the peroxide created by the liver. Saliva neutralizes this amount of peroxide about 10% faster than it can build up.

• Remember NOT to use it if pregnant or nursing. The smallest amount of chemicals if swallowed can be dangerous to a fetus.

• Had previous dental work? If you’ve had bonding done in the past or tooth color fillings or crowns bleaching generally wouldn’t work that well on it. The best thing to do is to get them replaced.

•  If you have white spots on teeth, decay, or infected gums: whitening bleach is not effective.

• Never use a mouthwash that contains alcohol after you’ve gotten your teeth bleached, because it can damage the whitening. However, an oxygenating oral rinse may benefit the gel treatment. Remember to read the instructions.

• Limitations. It should be remembered that teeth whitening would not work on bondings or any other artificial dental work such as caps, crowns or fillings. A solution to this is to replace the dental work with the one that matches your white teeth. Also if your teeth are gray, there is a lesser chance of them being whitened then the yellow one.
